Boat is Out

Here's my new blog. Now you can follow us while we are not on the water. We've already been out of the water for two weeks. The first week, we spent in Sturgeon Falls and the second week in Kingsville. We are here until the US land border opens to Canadian.

October 2021 Last walk at the marina (in the distance)

In Sturgeon, we stayed at MJD suites on King St. It is a comfortable place to stay. It's very central and there is a beautiful decorating store, La Vie en Couleur on the main floor. Most restaurants are within walking distance and the Giant Tiger store is just around the corner.

          MJD SUITES

The first week was mostly a quiet week as we had some organizing to do in our storage property and a medical appointment.  We did have company twice and we visited with some friends.

Giant Sturgeon in Sturgeon Falls

Family Fun at Leisure Farm

The Giant Sturgeon is a new attraction in Sturgeon Falls.  It's pretty impressive and it's nice that they are spending some money on downtown improvements.  The Jacques Cartier Memorial has been around since I can remember. I questioned the four hundred date span. 1534 - 1934.  1534 is when Jacques Cartier discovered Canada and 1934 was it's four-hundredth anniversary. It was celebrated with a 3 cent stamp. The third photo was taken on a tour of Leisure Farm.  Leisure Farm has also been around since I was a young, but every year it grows just like the berries and vegetables that they grow. It is the place to go especially in the Fall as they have a mountain of pumpkins.  This year the mountain had declined considerably when we went but it is fun to go with little ones.  They also have several activities for all age groups.

Miles of Green houses.
Our second week, we spent in Kingsville.   It turned out to be a         good choice for three reasons. Foodie haven, Victorian homes            and its proximity to Windsor. Kingsville is a foodie haven.               Kingsville is seven hours closer to the USA border, on the water        and close to family without being in Windsor.  When we veered        off the 401, we were greeted with miles of green houses.  It's               hard to take a picture, but it's quite the sight.

This is our home for a week.  This area has many Victorian homes.

Main Grill and Ale House
We've been exploring around here and choosing restaurants             mostly on a whim or if they are open.  Most restaurants seem             to open at 4pm.  Not sure why, maybe because of Covid or                 slow season.

This refurbished train stain closed in 1937.
Beautiful door is still standing.

The city is quite pretty and it has many victorian homes and it has a beautiful waterfront park in the center and plenty of walking trails. It's also has many nearby towns to also explore.

This private park "Lakeside Park" is on the waterfront in downtown Kingsville is owned by 127 residents. It was built in 1920.

The local marina has mainly fishing boats. There is also a ferry boat to Point Pelee Island.

While in Kingsville, we visited Point Pelee Park. It is on the 42nd parallel.  Did you know that cactus grow there and many diverse vegetation?  It's parallel to North California.

We also visited with family but we won't bore you with pictures.  It was fun to see them.

We are here waiting one hour from the USA land border to open which will happen on November 8th.  In the meantime, we just discovered this wonderful dessert place "Cheesecake on a Stick". We are very happy that we waited to try it or all our walking would have been useless.

We've worked hard all our lives, now that we are retired,
everything we do is just icing on the cake

Will keep you posted on our crossing on a future date.
